May. 19th, 2015 05:10 pmDaneel has a number of telepathic abilities, which he's had for about a year. He's still relatively new to them, but and still learning what he can do with them. He's also not inclined to tell people about this, because it would get him deactivated back home.
First: He can read emotions -- not distinct thoughts, but the general emotional state of people physically near him. He knows what a human mind should feel like, or what a robot mind should feel like. He doesn't go digging, because that's not how his powers work, but any emotional responses in the situation are apparent to him.
Question: Is this fair game? Can he sense things from your character? Is there anything unusual about their mind that might suggest not-human to him?
Second: Daneel has the ability to subtly influence and change emotions in people. He can encourage a feeling of trust, or a sense of charity, or suppress the desire to act. Because too strong a change will cause harm, he's reluctant to actually use this ability unless it's essential for the greater good. He's certainly not going to go make your character do something they normally would never want to do, because he is bound by the Laws of Robotics.
Question: Bearing in mind that I have no intention of using this aspect of his abilities without some OOC discussion beforehand (because of the massive amount of abuse inherent in this ability), and I therefore don't plan on Daneel using this ability very often, would your character be immune? For what it's worth, in his canon, this sort of power doesn't work as well against other telepaths.

Date: 2015-05-24 05:26 am (UTC)1. Yes, go ahead! Shirley would ping as normal, while Yuya has something weird going on in that he's got someone else's soul inside of him. Said soul doesn't do much but it is aware on some level and feeds into his emotional reactions in certain situations, so I'm guessing it might show up as the mental/emotional equivalent of a faint shadow or something.
2. Nah, neither of them would have any immunities for this kind of thing.

Date: 2015-05-31 06:11 am (UTC)Q1) Yes, Daneel certainly can sense things! Megaman himself is a program uploaded to a robot frame at the moment, and his thought/emotional patterns do match those of a highly sophisticated AI that's had a lot of human conditioning on the whole. Of note, though, is the fact that his personality is the literal uploaded soul of a deceased human boy; whether or not Daneel could also notice this is up to you! But if he could pick it up he's also free to.
Q2) I'd be down for this, yes! He hasn't really got any immunity on the telepathic front, so yeah have at :V

Date: 2015-09-14 02:38 am (UTC)1. I am fine for him sensing things from both characters! Cory is a normal human, but Steven is half-Gem. At the same time, I'm not sure if his mind itself is different enough from that of a normal human that he would give off a distinctly different feeling.
2. I don't think either character would be immune!

Date: 2015-09-21 03:11 am (UTC)Finrod might be immune to the suggestion if it doesn't work well against other telepaths. Ooor he might not. He has a minor level of telepathy (mental conversations are about the limit). If it comes up, we'll have to hash it out.
